A party usually implies a group activity, often a daunting experience for the quieter among us, myself included. While introverts generally prefer smaller gatherings, there are moments when they can take pleasure in larger crowds. This often happens when anonymity is possible, in circumstances that involve some degree of concealment.
Parades, masquerades, and holidays like Mardi Gras or Halloween offer reserved participants a chance to express their creativity and individuality through costume and disguise. These events become orgies of imaginative expression, gathering together a multitude of beings in a surreal, dreamlike "mise en scène" where no one stands out because everyone is distinct in unison.

The digital artwork I contrived for Contamination Culturelle 2025, a travelling outdoor exhibition organized by the Conseil des Arts et de la Culture de Vaudreuil-Soulanges (CACVS) is born from these reflections. At its heart is an individual, inspired by the feathered ones who move among us. Cloaked in a downy costume, the figure embraces the quiet strength of transformation.
The metamorphosis motivates two birds to settle gently on the person's bowed back. In that moment, a joyful connection is formed, not only among kindred spirits who thrive in costume, but with the natural world that shares the stage.
